Guance Machinery is small batch edible oil refinery plant provides for refining crude vegetable or animal-derived oils (pressed or rendered crude oils).
For small or medium-scale producers, this batch‑type refinery meets the demand for quality, flexibility, low initial investment.
In this article we explain the standard refining flow, outline necessary equipment (Oil Degumming Equipment, Oil Deacidification Equipment, Oil Decolorization Equipment, Oil Deodorization Equipment, etc.).

Why Choose Guance Machinery Small Batch Edible Oil Refinery Plant
1. Low initial investment and compact footprint
Batch plants are designed to run from \~1 to 20 tons per day, requiring much smaller space and capital than large continuous refineries.
2. Flexibility to handle various crude oils
Such plants can process different raw oils (seed‑pressed oils, animal fats, mixed oils), making them ideal for small mills, or changing raw material supply.
3. Simplicity and ease of operation
Batch mode allows step‑by‑step control; many small operators with modest staff can run the plant after brief training.
4. Quality output comparable to larger plants
When each refining step is properly managed, the final refined oil reaches acceptable standards in color, odor, stability, and purity.
Typical Refining Flow & Core Steps
A batch‑type edible oil refining line usually includes the following sequential stages.
1. Degumming (Hydration or acid/hot‑water treatment)
Purpose: remove phospholipids (gums), proteins, trace impurities.
Oil Degumming Equipment: (often combined with neutralization in small plants), with mixer and heating coil.
2. Deacidification / Neutralization
Purpose: Remove free fatty acids (FFA), improve oil taste, stability, and shelf life.
Commonly done via chemical neutralization using caustic soda (NaOH), forming soapstock which is separated.
Process: Crude oil is heated (typically \~ 60 °C), alkali added, mixed; soapstock settles down, then oil is washed (hot water) to remove residual soap/alkali.
3. Decolorization (Bleaching)
Purpose: Remove pigments, trace impurities, oxidation products — improving oil color, clarity and overall purity.
Oil Decolorization Equipment: Activated bleaching earth or activated carbon is added; after adsorption, spent adsorbent is removed by filtration (filter / leaf filter / vibration filter).
4. Deodorization
Purpose: Remove volatile compounds responsible for off‑odor or taste — aldehydes, ketones, free fatty acids, oxidation products — under high temperature and vacuum with steam stripping.
Equipment: Oil Deodorization Equipment, vacuum system, heating (thermal‑oil or steam), condensers, steam generator.
5. Cooling & Polishing Filtration
After deodorization, oil is cooled and passed through a polishing filter to ensure the refined oil is clear, clean, and ready for storage or automatic bottling machine packing.
Depending on crude oil type and quality, additional steps — such as winterization dewaxing plant (especially for oils with high wax content) — may be added.
